Focus on Gingin Field
Background
Western Australia’s sedimentary basins hold more than 80% of Australia’s discovered natural gas resources, despite being one of the last explored territories in the world. Onshore there is only approximately one well per 2647 sqkm, which can be compared to Texas where there is approximately one well per 2 sqkm. The company believed that there was considerable potential in the onshore Perth Basin.
Wharf Resources acquired an interest in the EP389 exploration permit in order to carry out oil and gas exploration and production activities within the onshore Perth Basin, WesternAustralia. EP389 contains the Gingin gas field which was first discovered in 1964.
In 2010, the directors decided, that the best way forward would be to combine the resources of Allied Oil & Gas, Dome Petroleum, Jurassica, and Phoenix to support Wharf Resources acquired in the EP389 exploration permit (Gingin) as this was the best prospect, and the one that could yield success the soonest.
=>This Strategy delivers a good result as the Gingin field is now starting to produce gas. The estimated reserves are up to 1,2 trillion cubic feet of gas.
